Sushi time at Daichi

I had been in the mood for sushi for a few days now, so Friday is the ideal day for dinner night out.

This time I really wanted to go somewhere we had never been to. Looking through posts on different social sights we spotted pics of sushi plates from Daichi that just made your mouth water, so look and think no more, that’s where I wanted to go! On our way to Daichi, sushi restaurant in Cedar Park, TX

As we parked the car and walked up to the place, we realized that it’s a classic neighborhood hole in the wall type place. It had about 8 tables total and a sushi bar that would seat 2-3 people. Inside were families enjoying a nice dinner out, everyone seemed to be very comfy there and then we meet the hostess/waitress who was absolutely adorable, very friendly, accommodating, just wonderful really. The way she greets everyone and talks to everyone she makes you feel right at home and that I liked.

The menu had a lot of interesting things, but I wanted sushi of course! Every time I go to a new sushi place it takes me a while to decide which of their specialty rolls I want to try. Usually it takes time but I can narrow it down by the type of fish, I stay away from Unagi (eel) which is probably the only one I don’t like and look for Sake, Hamachi and Maguro (in that order of preference!)

Soon enough our list of what we want is clear:

Appetizer: Hamachi with Jalapeno

Similar to what we’ve had at Zushi Sushi in the past, however the Hamachi here isn’t paper thin, which allows you to taste the fish more. The sauce is sweeter, so I missed the citrus element to it and I do like Serrano better than jalapeno. But if I wasn’t comparing it to one of my favorite appetizers, then this was really yummy!

Rolls: 3 to share:

1) Screaming Orgasm:

Had Salmon and spicy tuna on the inside and tuna tataki on the outside topped with a serrano and with a delicious sauce that tasted a bit like peanut, It was the BEST!

2) Longhorn:

Delicious as well, had shrimp tempura and Salmon and avocado on the outside, with a sesame sauce and tempura crumble on the top.

3) Tropical: this one they brought last, and I’m glad they did because it has fruit in it (hence the name).
Salmon with pieces of Mango, blood red orange, avocado, wrapped in soy wrap. It was sweet and yummy it felt like dessert to me.  The only thing that I would add to it is a slice of thinly sliced serrano pepper and a dot of Sriracha. That in my opinion would make this roll even better.

We definitely have to come back, become regulars, try some other rolls, bring my princess of course and make this another of our sushi places!

5 Star rating for food as well as for service!

I would really go back to eat lunch there today!
