I took my lil c to her annual check-up and was wondering where have 8 years gone, can’t believe she’s about to go into 3rd grade.
Dr. Petropoulous is an amazing pediatrician, she always asks how you are, what you did in the summer and interacts with the kiddos based on their answers. In this case they talked about school and she mentioned how important it was to learn a lot at school and go to college and have a nice career, etc. Seems like something simple but it’s crucial that children hear about the importance of career from all the people around them, so was very happy to see how the conversation went.
The most exciting part perhaps of the visit is to see the difference in height from now to the previous year. And there we go she’s grown 3 inches from last time measuring 53 1/4 this time! In the 95% percentile and just another data point that goes to show why my lil c (not so little really) tends to be about a head taller than most of her friends… Doc even joked around about how I must sprinkle her with miracle-gro 🙂 I wonder if she’ll grown another 3 inches by age 9… at this rate she’ll be taller than a couple of my friends and definitely will catch me as well…
On to the next subject of our visit is always talking about weight and nutrition. Carolina is in the 75th percentile of weight but for her height her bmi is at 50%. So in the doctor’s words, her weight is perfect for her height. Dr Petropoulos reminded her about eating veggies and fruits and to continue to do all the activities that she’s involved in already to continue to keep herself really healthy.
So the blood test came out great, she’s healthy and great and the piece of ego boosting for mommy:
Doc: “I don’t have any recommendations for you, she’s doing great, I guess keep doing what you are doing because it’s obviously the right mix”
lil c: “that’s because my Mommy is an amazing cook!”
So there I had my pat on the shoulder ego boosting moment of the day!
