Continuing the weekend of celebrating Mommyhood, Mimi and Carolina made us pancakes!
Then we all got ready for our short roadtrip to Salado, TX. Which is about 45mins away from Austin going North on I-35.
The day was really nice, not too hot, beautiful clouds, a little breeze, everything is beautifully green thanks to all this rain we’ve been having, hard to believe it’s mid-May in Texas!
Arrived in Salado, TX
We walked towards the bridge and found a funny looking sculpture of Billy Goat Gruff before we walked under a beautiful canopy of trees over a bridge.

We continued to walk around observing nature as we looked for a place to eat, as we were starting to get hungry. Here are some of the things we encountered:
Bird house
Interesting fence with old bikes
We decided to eat at Bistro called Adeleas. It was originally a one story house converted into a quaint Bistro, with a nice patio with a fountain waterfall (see pic above).
We all ordered different things off the menu, but I think the best choice was Carolina’s grilled cheese sandwich. Not your ordinary one of course! This one was made with Artichoke, spinach and cheese (I think Gruyere) and bacon, served with Kettle Chips.

After Lunch we continued to walk around, saw interesting shops and sipped some wine at the wineries around.
Fountain at Rising Star Winery

Sipping a Merlot at Rising Star
Looking at tadpoles in the little creek near the winery
paw prints on the rock
beautiful day – beautiful blue skies
After all that walking around we decided to head over to Salado Creek. Nice area that seems to be a hit with the locals. There were kids swimming, families having picnics. We just waded in the water for a bit before we headed home.
It was a nice way to enjoy the family on a beautiful Saturday!
