Lobster feast – starting our Mother’s day weekend

It all really started Thursday with Carolina’s performance in the play at School. The Stallion Choir composed of 3rd-5th graders have been really working hard on all their parts to come up with a great production. Here’s a pic of our little “Hawaiian performer”

It was also on Thursday that I got an email from her teacher that said to come to Friday Assembly because Carolina was going to be one of the Spotlight Stallions. Which she has no clue ablout and won’t be expecting because she has already been one this year! So I started the morning getting her ready for school as usual and we tricked her into leaving a little early with the excuse that Papi had a meeting and had to leave early. As she arrived in school Mimi and I got ready and went and sneaked in to Assembly. Her surprise face was priceless, but even better when she saw that we were all there! 🙂

So the weekend started off on a good foot for sure!

Our surprise special dinner that we ordered arrived by FedEx Friday afternoon! Marco had seen a Groupon to get a Main Lobster dinner for 4 for $100 (reg price $245). Very nice deal if I must say so.  We had 4 live lobsters, 4 Crab cakes and 4 lbs of mussels, I added clam chowder too!  Since the best thing is to eat all of that the same day it arrives, we proclaimed Friday to be our special Mother’s day dinner.

So we steamed the mussels and made them Spanish Style “Mejillones a la Vinagreta”, we cooked our lobsters, some potatoes and the crab cakes, opened a nice bottle of Ribera del Duero and our feast was ready to begin – soooooo yummy!

Hello Mr Lobster!

Hubby came home with surprise flowers and dessert – chocolate covered strawberries, another one of my all-time favorites.

My surprise flowers – so pretty

After a delicious feast we all played Rummikub, quite a fun beginning of Mother’s day weekend 🙂
