Spain wins UEFA Euro2012 – My encounter

As we arrived in Caceres you could see Spanish flags in balconies, hanging in windows, in restaurants, shops, people wearing shirts. You can totally feel the love for soccer in Spain, actually it was present in Portugal as well. I love it!

As we prepare for Spain vs Italy, some friends of my Dad sent this:

I saw that someone made a cool ensaladilla rusa – good idea!

Ensaladilla Rusa – a classic tapa

My dad had his big flag hanging from the pole in the balcony, soaring in the wind, ready for the final on Sunday.

Carolina is completely ready for the game with her jersey and the Soccer ball that she and Papa got at the gas station for filling up the tank (sweet deal).

Carolina is ready for the game!

The coke we drink for the game along with a plate Jamón Ibérico, olives and drinking some margaritas on the rocks.

and with a game where we creamed Italy 4-0. Spain puts their little mark in fútbol (I hate calling it soccer btw) history! We become the first team to win 3 straight major titles (Eurocup ’08 + Worldcup ’10 + Eurocup ’12) & the first to win back-to-back Eurocopas. How cool is that!

The next day as we did our grocery shopping, there were so many people wearing their Spain jerseys, and everyone is talking about the win, and it’s all over the news, it takes the top news on any channel, all the chatter on the street. All over Spain people were bathing in local fountains, wrapped in their flags, with painted red/yellow faces. It was fun to see the win at home for sure! An awesome experience, I can’t wait for 2014!

oh, I almost forgot! We also have a song! “No hay dos sin tres” which by the way, when we went out on Friday night, we danced to it, in one of the bars we went to.

Like I always say, Spain is different, but in an awesome way!
