We said our goodbyes to Portugal after a delicious breakfast, love European Hotel breakfast buffets! We were heading north to our next location Galicia, Spain. The Minho River marks the boarder between Portugal and Spain… Once crossed you are in the Province of Galicia which has four regions (Coruna, Vigo, Orense & Pontevedra).
Our 1st stop along the coast is to go up the mountain of Santa Tecla for an amazing scenic view of the town of La Guardia (A Guarda), the river and the ocean… This is a historic site discovered in 1913 as they were building roads, you can find remains of The settlers of Monte de Santa Tecla here, the Church of Saint Tecla and nice restaurant with views. Slide show below.

We head back down the mountain to go eat and lucky us this weekend was the lobster fest! They had several restaurants that each showcased their specialties. We picked several from the different stands, everything was delicious. Necoras, percebes, gambones, pulpo, paella, vino de la tierra… MMMM that was a feast! on each pic I explained in the caption it’s name in Spanish and translation in English.
Lobster Fest!
Walking around the marina to get to the festival
The best display of all the stations at the fest
that lobster is 60 years old! The man explained that his grandfather had caught it when he was a boy!
Garlic Shrimp Lollypop (Piruleta de gambas al ajillo)
Pulpo a la Gallega – the best! (Squid Galicia style)
Navajas! a type of clam that looks like a razor blade, which it’s why it’s called Navajas (blade)
Necoras – Cangrejos de rio. A type of crab found in rivers called necora
My favorite of white wines “Albarino”
little tiny mussels
humongous Shrimp!
Marco is loving the food!
We walked outside the of the Fair tent and showed Carolina all the fisherman boats, and their colorful houses, such a quaint town.

After the feast we headed to our destination for the next couple days… A town called Baiona where Mimi had more surprises in store for us!
