Roadtrip 5-7: Wizarding World

There is no way to begin to explain how excited we were about the Wizarding World at Universal Studios… there is just not enough words to explain the emotions, the excitement… So the best thing to say is that if you are a Harry Potter fan, you just will have to make it there and see for yourself, because it blew my mind, well all 4 us Mind blown!

List of things to do:

  • Drink Butter beer – hot, cold both are so good!
  • Eat English style breakfast at the Leaky Cauldron and at 3 Broomsticks
  • Ride the Hogwarts Express both ways because the experience is different and worth it!
  • Go into all the little shops to experience the Wizarding World: Ollivanders (this actually has an attraction part too), ice-cream parlor, Weasley’s Weezes, Borgin and Burkes, The owlry, honey dukes, etc  All shops are worth looking into even if you don’t buy anything from them.
  • Go on all the rides of course! Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and Gringott’s being my favorites!
  • Watch the street shows!
  • Visit by day and by night, especially Diagon Alley by night has a different vibe!
  • Talk to the people that work there, they are in character… My favorite: was the bartender at The Tavern behind 3 Broomsticks, he is funny and completely in character. Also the slytherins at the castle where you embark for the forbidden journey. I got quite some smack talk from the slytherins since I was wearing my Griffindor scarf!  And lots of thumb ups and appreciation from fellow Grinffindors all over the park!
  • We didn’t feel like cos playing, but there are plenty of people that do! We did carry our wands bought at Ollivanders and our scarves from our houses but at Madam Malkin’s Robes for all occasions.  Oh the fun!
  • Shutterbutton’s photography studio is awesome. Take a session, it’s moving photographs like the wizarding world, they give you a video. It was a lot of fun to do and to watch later. They give you robes to wear, but if you have more props from your cos play, definitely use it! They will put you in all scenarios in the castle, on the train, in class…
  • Cast spells with interactive wands… If you have little kids, this is worth it. We just watched kids do it and enjoyed our wands that weren’t interactive.
  • Take lots of pics!!!

And here is a collage of pics around the Wizarding World

We went all 3 days experiencing different things each day, there’s always something extra to see, since there is so much. I have thousands of pics, but wouldn’t want to spoil the fun!

One little tip I should say… when you take the Hogwarts Express from London going to Hogwarts… do have someone wait by the mirror and take a quick video as you go through… really cool, see below my girls going off to Hogwarts!

Trying to turn back time so we wouldn’t have to leave

If I could turn back time…

I’d go back there again and again, or maybe I just would never leave!

Oh yeah! btw, we did see the rest of Universal Studios in the 3 full days (4 nights) we were there…

I’ll do another post with a recap of the fun we had outside of the Wizarding World.
