It was sad to leave Universal Studios since we had so much fun these last 4 days.
We checked out of our lovely Hard Rock Hotel bright and early, stopped for gas and a Starbucks and were off to a pretty much non-stop journey to Atlanta.
The highway was pretty boring unlike the beginning of our roadtrip but the girls were mostly sleeping anyway. There’s a noticeable difference in vegetation as you leave Florida and get into Georgia.
We stopped for a small break at Magnolia Plantation which is a gorgeous building, the store is huge and has all kinds of things! We bought some peach preserves and peach butter, can’t wait to try them at home!
There was quite some traffic but we arrived in Atlanta with enough time to do some sightseeing.
We checked into our Hotel, the Hilton Atlanta downtown which is a very nice hotel and has perfect location, as it is within walking distance of all the fun. We decided to get the city pass (Which is an awesome deal if you buy it ahead of time!) to maximize what we could do in the city and it was delivered directly to the hotel for us. Great service!
We went to the Georgia Aquarium first as we only had a little over an hour to go through it all. We didn’t think it would be too crowded considering that it was thanksgiving day.
It’s a great aquarium, my favorite parts are the over passages where you see all the different fish, whales, stingrays, etc go right over you. Makes You feel like You are swimming with them!
There are also several crawl spaces with fun Photo opportunities.
So many bright colors, aquatic life is just beautiful! My favorites: sea dragon, anemones, star fish and jellyfish.
After the aquarium we explored downtown, the Centennial park is gorgeous, especially decorated for the holidays. The fountains were fun to run through, I bet it’s awesome in the summer heat!
They have an icerink throughout the holidays, and we got a chance to see everything from above when we rode on the Atlanta skyline, which reminded me of the London eye in a way!
It’s not until I come to the east coast that I remember how Pretty fall colors arenas that we miss out on in Texas.
We finished our evening with a nice thanksgiving dinner buffet style at 10th and Piedmont. Not quite like at home but good!
Thankful for such a wonderful time on our roadtrip so far, for family time, lots of memories made, living like a wizard for 3 days, delicious foods, amazing sightseeing, expanding our horizons and toasting to more to come!
